Dylan Moran In Cairns

We occasionally encounter the view that Cairns and Far North Queensland somehow ‘shuts down’ outside of the peak holiday season.

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth!

This is a fantastic area for a holiday at all times of the year and there is usually absolutely no shortage of things to do whenever you visit.

To take one very recent and for us exciting example, news has just been released that Dylan Moran will be visiting Cairns with his new show on the 8th of August, 2015.

If the name that doesn’t immediately rang a bell, he is the now globally renowned comedian from the TV programme “Black Books”and has built up a vast international following due to his famous and hilarious rants about one thing or another in life.  You can be sure that after a little time listening to him, your ribs will be aching with laughter.

Of course, Cairns, Palm Cove and Trinity Beach accommodation can all be particularly good value out of season and any of these locations will be absolutely ideal for getting along to see this great comedian and the show.

Needless to say, this isn’t the only thing going on.  There is a huge range of things happening in many of the beautiful areas that surround Cairns - and that is true at any time of the year.

Given that the best medical advice is now recommending more frequent breaks through the year rather than just one annual holiday, even if some of those breaks are of relatively short duration, why not think about getting yourself up here to visit us during the winter?  We can guarantee you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Why Holidays are Important for your Health

  • Summary.  Medical science is continually increasing its estimation of the damage stress can cause to our overall health.  Taking more frequent breaks, including holidays, may be one of the most important health-protection steps you can adopt.

This is a subject we’ve touched on before and we’re not going to apologise for raising it again.
A recent medical report has discussed why sometimes even super-fit professional athletes suffer coronary attacks when they should, in theory, be amongst some of the lowest-risk groups.

The report has highlighted a number of causative factors but two of those mentioned are stress and a lack of sleep.

Of course, whether you are fit or unfit, your life may be subject to stress on a day to day basis and we all know how hard it is to get a good night’s sleep given the combined pressures of professional and family life.  Yet those joint factors of stress and insufficient sleep are now believed to play a significant part in increasing the risk of arterial fissures and associated sticky blood clotting that could put your health or perhaps even your life at risk.

Most medical exports are now convinced of the need for people to reduce the amount of stress they are under in their daily lives and to take a break including holidays more frequently.

So, we’ll say again that you really should be thinking about taking it a bit easier and getting away from things more often.

To show that we are being unbiased, let’s say clearly that could be to anywhere and not necessarily just to our very special Palm Cove apartments accommodation or anywhere else we offer. It’s more important that we persuade you to take more frequent breaks for your health than to convince you to come and visit us in FNQ.

Your health is important and it may be easier to irreparably damage it than you might think.  So, try to get away from the normal routine with all its stresses a few times a year. Your health may need it.

Palm Cove's Best Food Experiences

We are sometimes asked where the best restaurants are in a given location.

To be frank, that’s sometimes a bit challenging because there are so many great restaurants in places like Palm Cove that it’s difficult to choose the one or two that someone might consider to be the best. You can be sure there will be several great ones to choose from near your Palm Cove luxury accommodation.

Of course, it’s also the case that these things can be in the eye of the beholder. Our idea of a great restaurant might not be the same as yours.

So, we try to avoid talking about specific restaurants but what we can do is give you a few tips on some of the special foods in this area and what you might like to try.

You might want to look for restaurants specializing in:

  • Fresh fish. It goes without saying that the seas around Far North Queensland are a fantastic source of some of the best fish around including things like the incomparable Barramundi. Make sure the restaurant you are looking at serves only fresh fish and nothing that has been frozen down – at least if you want the best dining experience.
  • Steaks. OK, this sounds a bit basic but you simply can’t beat the quality of the beef served locally and if it’s beautifully prepared with some great accompanying vegetables, it can be an entirely different thing to some of that mass-produced beef you might see elsewhere.
  • Australian bush cuisine. Yes, it may sound a bit touristy but don’t underestimate the delicious nature of things such as crocodile and kangaroo. If you had never had them before, once again be adventurous and give them a try. They’ll open your eyes to a new range of flavours and textures.
The unique dining experience is one of the great joys of Far North Queensland so enjoy yourself!
